The Saint Paul Police Department will host three independently moderated community meetings about its new, draft use-of-force policy, which was released online last month.
Representatives from the department’s Training Unit will present information about laws that govern police use of force, statistics related to police use of force across the country and in Saint Paul, why the department decided to review the policy, and what has changed in the new, draft policy.
Attendees will also have opportunities to ask questions and share their feedback on the draft policy. After the meetings, the department will review the public’s feedback, take any necessary steps to strengthen the policy and share it with the public.
People unable to attend the meetings can also read the draft policy and provide feedback on the department’s website: stpaul.gov/police.
A list of the three community meetings follows.
